Roadkill Clubhouse Issue 2

Go Birds... and more

What up, gang!? Checking back in for Issue 2 of our Roadkill Clubhouse. We have been cooking up more stuff for y'all in the background and can’t wait to share more about what we have in store.

Strava Club!

We have had a LOT of back and forth emails with the Strava Marketing Team (do they go by SMT? If not they really should) and they wanted us to pay over $30,000 for a custom marketing campaign with them… in this economy?! We told them to double it and give it to the next person, and have been figuring out what we can do without a $30k marketing budget…

With that being said, our head of Media, Sam Leib, has just launched our Strava Club (link is attached below)!

We are super excited to be working on the strava platform because it plays such an integral part of all runners' lives. We are working on some custom Roadkill segments all over the 215 and we will be putting together some giveaways on our club page as well. We also may have some fun Strava club exclusive events in the summer ;)…

We have a few things planned BUT we also want to hear from you! Feel free to shoot us a DM on our Strava for any suggestions you have!

Tailwind!

Our fuel sponsor for all of our upcoming Roadkill Events ;)

We are super excited to announce our fuel sponsor for 2025, Tailwind! A few of our team members have used this to fuel their training and races and we are so pumped to be offering fuel that we believe in. We will have a new Tailwind product available for samples at our event with Old City Run Club on Feb 26th, so be sure to pop by the fuel tent and leave your reviews on the new hydration product from Tailwind.

Us at all of our upcoming events… yes it’s all eagles memes this week

For people that have been using Tailwind in the past: what are your fave flavors?

This week in R+D

We have a lot more details behind the scenes and we want to make sure our new collection is going to be so damn fine you may leave your valentine for a pair of Roadkill Shorts! But in all seriousness, we are cooking behind the scenes. Here are some things we have been working on this week:

Fabric composition - What kind of poly, nylon, spandex blend do we need to be looking into? 80/20? 70/30? 75/25? 33.3/33.3/33.3?!” You really would not believe the difference this makes when dialing in performance gear. This past week we have been going through many fabric swatches picking out what we think will get closer to our signature performance textile. We are constantly asking ourselves: How can these fabrics help our runners?, and the answer is becoming more and more clear to us as the weeks go on. We think we have narrowed it down to a couple options for our runners, and we are now going into sampling, dye testing, and sizing.

Reviewing Textiles for Roadkill Summer ‘25

Wicking Finishing on Fabrics - We had no idea this is what we would be talking about when starting a brand, BUT we are looking into some Wicking finishes that will promote sweat-proof longevity. Some of your favorite brands use wicking additives because it gives the fabrics a finish that is suited for performance. Right now we are working with our manufacturer to test different wicking additives for our textiles, as well as looking into the lifespan of these additives on our garments. A lot of brands use very cheap wicking options that work when you wear something for the first few times, but don’t last more than a few washes. We are working now on a wicking finish that will be 5-10x longer lasting!

For more on wicking, here is some TMI on sweat wicking materials:

Our Fav Post-Run Cafes in PHL

Rival Bros Cortado - liquid golddddddd

I mean let’s be honest, we are way more likely to go out for a run in the morning if we are getting a sweet treat after… It is the most pure form of work and reward! Here are a couple of our fav post-run coffee and sweet treat spots in PHL:

Rowhome (Fitler Square) - Specifically their Philly Pretzel breakfast sammies… yeah… you’re welcome…

Rival Bros (Graduate Hospital) - Best cortado in the city by a long shot!

Musette (Fairmount) - Out of this world croissants and matcha lattes, this place has a soft spot in the team’s hearts because the owner is a runner <3

Forin (Fishtown) - Great hangout spot with very cool activities and events going on!

Almost Home General (Old City) - Great ambiance with a larger menu to satisfy any post-run craving.
